Tiktok has recently generated a lot of stir around the latest Gen Z self-care trend, Bed Rotting.
What is it you might ask? Well, it’s Gen Z’s way of destigmatising taking a doona day, where you spend the day, or even weekend, in bed as a self-care practice. It’s designed to be an intentional and guilt free way to rest, watch tv reruns, or engage in relaxing activities.
Is this the right answer to be dealing with stress and burnout? Or are we glorifying unhealthy coping strategies by making them tiktok trendy?

Behind every procrastination excuse, there is some truth to the situation.
Yes, you may feel tired. Yes, it might be later in the day to get a task started. Yes, the uncovering on Scandavol on Vanderpump Rules might be a priority in your life. But allowing these truths to be the reason to hold off from a task is not only unhelpful, but in the long run, adds more stress and energy into the task when we are forced to complete it due to work deadlines, disappointment from loved ones, or life admin consequences such as late fees or overdue notices.
The reality is, if we wait for the ideal conditions to come along, we could be waiting forever. Tomorrow, next week or January 1st aren’t guaranteed to provide you with that miraculous increase in motivation.
If you identify as a dawdler, lagger or delayer, and are looking to speak to someone about changing this cycle, hit up my #linkinbio and let’s have a chat about your goals and how we can work together to overcome procrastination.
